Davide Balliano was born in Turin, Italy, in 1983. In this city he began his studies and earned a Bachelor in Graphic Arts. In 2002 he moved to Milan where he earned a second degree in Photography at the c.f.p Riccardo Bauer, and worked as an artist. From June 2004 to June 2005, Balliano was a resident in Fabrica, artist's residence of the Benetton group.Through an unemotional and minimal use of different media (drawing, installation, painting and performance) his artistic research allows him to delve deeply into the most hidden aspects of the human mind, revealing their fragile structures and contradictions. Balliano's works and performances were shown at The Artists Space and PS1 Contemporary Art Center in New York, The Watermill Center in South Hamptons, Plymouth Art Center in Great Britain, as well as in New Zeland, Japan and all across Europe. His portfolio has been recently exhibited in the Archive of Via Farini in case of the event "NO SOULS FOR SALE" at the Tate Modern Gallery in London. He's one of the AOL 25 winners for 25 Award 2010; he’s been recently appointed as one of the 2012 Kempinski Art Programme fellows.Balliano lives and works in New York. Davide Balliano è nato a Torino nel Dicembre 1983.Dopo aver concluso gli studi in Grafica Pubblicitaria, si trasferisce a Milano nel 2002 per frequentare il corso di Fotografia dell'Istituto Riccardo Bauer. Tra il Giugno 2004 e il Giugno 2005 è a Fabrica, l'Artists Residence del Gruppo Benetton.Attraverso l'uso asettico e minimale di diversi media (disegno, installazione, pittura e performance) la sua ricerca affronta gli aspetti piu' bui e nascosti dell'animo umano, rivelandone le fragili strutture e contraddizioni.Ha partecipato alla Biennale di Kitakyushu nel 2007.È stato finalista al Premio Riccardo Pezza nel 2008 ed al Premio Terna 2009 e 2010. Ha avuto una mostra personale curata da Marina Abramovic presso l'Artists Space di New York nel Marzo 2009, una performance al PS1 Contemporary Art Center di New York,al Watermill Center di Robert Wilson, al Plymouth Art Center e numerose esposizioni in Italia, Germania, Svizzera, Austria, Giappone, Stati Uniti e Nuova Zelanda.Il suo portfolio è stato recentemente esibito dall'archivio di Via Farini nella presentazione "NO SOULS FOR SALE" alla Tate Modern Gallery di Londra.Ha vinto l’AOL Award 2010 ed e’ stato recentemente inserito nel prestigioso Kempinski Art Program.Vive e lavora a New York.
